the END of June and most of July

I've been running around crazy for the past few weeks and finally have a minute to update our blog. June began with poor JJ finishing first grade. He was sad but I think we've got him excited for second grade finally! Joel left for his annual military 2 weeks a few weeks into June. The kiddos and I survived! (So did Joel)

After Joel got home, I was able to sit down and finish the month of sewing madness that I started at the beginning of June. After 10 dresses and 5 ties, I was done! Joel's brother Bryn got married on the 7th of July. It was a beautiful wedding although the rain didn't want us to take too many pictures!

2 days later, Joel and I attended the pre deployement readiness conference in SLC. The entire day was getting a bunch of information for families to be prepared for deployment. It was enjoyable, except the part where I had to talk. (I'm the Ombudsman for his unit which means I'm the liason between the commanding officer and all of the families) I hate talking in front of people. I was more nervous than when I played piano for Seymour Bernstein!!

We had a few days to recover, see Harry Potter, take the kiddos to 7 peaks and trafalga (both kids got to rock climb for the first time!) and I have sent Joel off again for more military stuff yesterday. He'll only be gone a few days this time but I'm pretty sure I've barely seen him these past few months! Feels like it anyway.

Looking forward to the next few weeks, I am going to training for Ombudsman stuff the first week of August (if they get my stuff done) Joel pointed out this is the first vacation that I have had by myself. Since we've met he's left 15 times and I'm always at home. I think he has a good point! I'll be back for a week of work and then our family vacation to disneyland and the beach house starts! I'm soooo excited!!

Last Day of First Grade

Last night I was sitting on the couch altering my friends bridal gown and J.J. came running in from outside. He went into his room and I didn't think anything of it. After a couple of minutes he started crying. I thought maybe he had hurt himself or something. I called for him to come talk to me and uncharacteristically of him, he crawled in my lap and continued to sob. After I asked what was wrong a few different times he finally said through pouring tears "I'm going to miss school." Poor little guy. He couldn't give me specifics of what he was going to miss and nothing I said comforted him. We decided making a summer count down paper chain was in order. After cutting the strips of paper for it, he discovered his friends playing outside and chose to join them. So, on to the last day of first grade today.

May.....be I can blog every month. Yeesh!!

So, the theory was to have a really good, always up to date blog. FAIL!! So I thought once a month and I've done pretty well with that so far. I almost missed May. So, to catch up on everything. Easter was fun. Kiddos are pretty good at decorating eggs!! Mothers day was sweet. The kids made me all kinds of little things. We had dinner with the entire family (also very fun!) J.J. is getting VERY excited to be done with school. He had  his little end of the year dance festival. He was so cute and did a great job (all of the kids did)...and finally, Katie, my sister in law took our family pictures. I'll post pictures soon! We're looking to all of the fun things we've got planned this summer!

Kids getting the safety speech from Daddy. They love riding in the truck!

Toothless actually let me take her picture. She's such a DIVA!

J.J. learned to ride his bike! It took literally 10 minutes

J.J.'s dance festival. He's the one in the yellow
I like to think of this as the Where's Waldo? picture. He's literally the only one looking the camera

I love that they paired him with the biggest kid in the first grade. He waved at us at any chance he had!

April, April, April

April has been a very busy month for us. We've had 2 birthdays (JJ turned 7 and Joel had his birthday as well), Joel and I have been busy with getting ready for finals, Joel's show opened and closed and the kiddos had spring break. I thought I'd show ya'll a few of the pictures that I've taken over the past few weeks.
WARNING!! Some are a little frightening beginning with Ana driving......again

She parked the car on the grass (I'm a little worried)
Then she wanted to drive Daddy's truck (Even Scarier!!)
JJ's birthday on the 7th. Ana's hair was frightening!
(It screams "Daddy did my hair" Joel informed me it was so that I would have flashbacks. )
JJ was inducted into the Champions Club at school.
He did a bunch of learning activities to qualify. We had a blast doing it.....well....most of it.
Here's the medal that he earned. He's quite proud of it
Toothless enjoys sleeping in plastic garbage bags and I have no idea why!
JJ got a pop up book from my mom for his birthday. It's actually really cool.
I think I enjoy it more than him...

The kids decorated Joel's birthday cake. Ana did the sprinkles while JJ took care of the candle placement. It's not too shabby
and they were quite proud of themselves
Toothless has also taken to rolling around in the dirt
Ana LOVES jumping on the trampoline especially with daddy
Tootless loves the paper flowers I made and put in our front window for spring

Unfortunately, Ana likes them too so I think they might move into her room.
Not to leave our little rat dog Nitro out. He follows me everywhere
but this time he was waiting for Joel to get home. HaHaHa
And last but not least, JJ was student of the week this week so we made a poster about him to share with his class. My favorite thing he said was that when he grew up he wants to be a builder just like Daddy.
So, naturally, we took this picture : )
Now, if Joel and I can get through the next week or so with finals, we'll be awesome!
I'm going to school full time during summer and he's just planning on working on his math class.
So, as always...on to the next adventure.
